EVENTS

Add An Event

  1. Log in and move your mouse cursor over the “Events” tab, then choose “Add/Edit Events”
  2. Type in your title (don’t worry about using capital letters – all text in the title field will render as CAPS on the actual website).
  3. Type in any details about the event that you would like to appear just below the event title on the home page and side bar.
  4. Enter in your start date (and optional end date).
  5. Set the event to repeat, if necessary.  Otherwise keep all of the default selections.
  6. IF YOU WANT TO LINK TO MORE DETAILS you have 2 options:
    1. Create a new “Post” using the same title of the event and assign it to the “Event Details” category. ¬†Once published (don’t worry about the publish date) click the “Get Shortlink” button next to “View Post”. Copy and Paste that link into the “Link To Page” field in your event.
    2. Copy and paste a link from an external website (ALWAYS use the FULL URL – i.e. “http://www.cnn.com” is GOOD, “cnn.com” is BAD!
  7. Click “Save Event”
  8. Go to the full events page to make sure it published correctly – http://www.gersonlaw.com/events/

Edit An Event

  1. Log in and move your mouse cursor over the “Events” tab, then choose “Manage Events.”
  2. Choose the event you wish to change.
  3. Once done, click “Save Event” button.

NEWS & ALERTS

Add A News Item

  1. Log in and click on the “Posts” tab.
  2. Click on “Add New”
  3. Add a title and use the “visual” tab to write and edit your content.
  4. If you’re copying and pasting from MS WORD – Make sure you use the “paste from Word” button (if this is hidden, click the “show the kitchen sink” button in the editor toolbar.
  5. Choose either the “NEWS” or “ALERTS” categories on right.
  6. Leave “Default Template” on as your template, unless you would like this to be a full page article (no side bar), in which case choose “fullwidth page.”
  7. If you want to add an image to the post, you can add it using the tools available in the editor toolbar.
  8. If you would like the image to appear in the article abstract on the “news” page as a thumbnail, click “Set Featured Image,” upload your image from your computer, and click “Use as Featured Image” once uploaded.
  9. If you’re interested in SEO – add a title tag and meta information (great for Google searches) – otherwise leave SEO settings blank.
  10. Publish your post and go to the website to make sure it’s live.
