NEWS July 2004 San Diego Mayor Appoints Gordon L. Gerson to Public Facilities Financing Authority On July 26, 2004, the San Diego City Council by unanimous vote of 9-0, confirmed the Mayor Richard Murphy's appointment of Gordon L. Gerson to the Public Facilities Financing Authority of the City of San Diego. The Authority has the power to jointly exercise any powers common to the City of San Diego and the Redevelopment Agency for the City of San Diego. The Authority exists for the purpose of assisting the financing of certain public capital facilities improvements of the City or the Agency by purchasing bonds, working capital, liability, and other insurance needs or projects whenever there are significant public benefits as determined by the Agency. Gerson will be one of the five Commissioners for the Authority. There are two other Commissioners who are members of the public. The City Treasurer and the Assistant Executive Director of the Redevelopment Agency are the two remaining members.  |
